We cannot praise the unit enough for the care given during our time there and we want to give a little something back by taking part in various fundraising ventures throughout the year. Although the NHS pays for medication and staffing of the unit, all the specialist equipment is funded by donations alone. To give you an idea of the costs involved in looking after a baby, here is a break down of the expenses for each of the levels of care:
- Level 3 – Neonatal Intensive Care – £1,200 per day
- Level 2 – High Dependency – £940 per day
- Level 1 – Special Care – £650 per day
This means the costs involved in looking after Henry and Archie were around £125,000! I know our fundraising efforts are a drop in the ocean compared with this figure but every little helps!
